Look how far we’ve come!
Just found my old diabetic testing supplies circa 1984-???. -
The test tube with the dark brown glass bottle was My first testing kit… I was sent home with that from the hospital. You would collect a urine sample, put it in the test tube, drop a tablet in and then it would change color...note the color chart....Archaic!!!
The extremely large tan object was my first blood test machine. It took a whole two minutes to do a reading. After the first 60 seconds you had to dab off The blood and then close the compartment for the final reading 60 seconds later. I do have to say way better than collecting urine, however I’ll take the new testers that only take 5 seconds and it doesn’t even compare to the continuous glucose monitors that give automatic readings to my insulin pump.
I have to say thank goodness we are no longer living in 1984... The advancements that have occurred over the last 35 years Have been huge. #jdrf Has been a major player in Bringing these advancements and the research that is needed to make them move forward. Can’t wait to see what’s coming down the pipe in the next few years.
